Polmaily House, Loch Ness - An historic Georgian Home
Deb and I thank you for your interest in Polmaily House in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland and just a couple of miles from the tourist hotspot of Urquhart Castle and the world famous home of, 'Nessie', Loch Ness. We look forward to extending the warmest welcome to you should you decide to call in for a look around or indeed decide to stay with us in the future.
Polamily House, named after one of the many saints of the Great Glen, Mailie, has an incredible history. Built in the early - mid 1700's, the house was home to several important local families including the MacKays and the Grants. In fact, it was from this very house that the Grant clan raised a group of around 70 men to march to support Bonnie Prince Charlie at the ill-fated Battle of Culloden in April 1746. It is thought that the house only survived being destroyed by the vengeful King George and his troops because it was used as a base by the king's Kingston Light Horse soldiers who supervised the pillaging of the area after the battle. That makes the house around 270 years old!
Guests can either stay on a Bed &Breakfast basis in a variety of large newly refurbished rooms and family suites or, if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion (even a wedding) with family and friends, then you could also rent the whole property and 6 acres of grounds on an exclusive use basis. We can accommodate around 24 people in 12 bedrooms, 11 of which are en-suite. All guests can enjoy exclusive use of all that Polmaily House has to offer - including a heated indoor swimming pool (open 1 April - 1 November), a tennis court, a brown trout fishing lake, an undercover games area, a croquet lawn, a 24 seater dining table and a private cinema room. These unrivalled guest facilities make Polmaily House a uniquely wonderful experience in a stunning setting, whatever the time of year.
If you are looking for a venue for your wedding / special occasion, our croquet lawn could host a stretch tent / marquee / tepees for up to 150 people. We would work closely with you to ensure that it was, 'Your day, your way'.
These are exciting times for Polmaily House. Do call in or contact us to discuss your requirements in more detail.

LATEST NEWS - CORONAVIRUS - THE FUTURE AT POLMAILY HOUSE
Firstly, wherever in the world you live, Deb and I hope that you are doing all you can to follow your governemnt's guidelines and that you, your friends, your family and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy in these difficult times.
We must remain positive that this terrible situation will come to an end in the not too distant future and we can once again return to some semblance of normality and once again start visiting beautiful parts of the world, such as Loch Ness and the Highlands.
With social distancing and other measures being key in the fight to stop the spread of coronavirus, as soon as we re-open at Polmaily House, we will for the remainder or 2020 at least, operate at half capacity, enabling guests to enjoy a lot more space with fewer other visitors around.
This also means more space on the tennis court, in the cinema room, in the games room, on the giant trampoline, on the football pitch, on the croquet lawn and, most excitingly, in the indoor heated swimming pool!
Thank you all for your messages of support. We look forward to opening our doors to you once again once we are a through these challenging times. You will be made most welcome - as always.
Stay safe, healthy and positive.
